THE STORY.
The transformation begins by removing the composition from AC/DC’s hard-rock environment and rebuilding its scale through voices.
The opening is sparse: chant, morin khuur and space.
CHANT
MORIN KHUUR
SPACE
Then throat singing introduces another vocal texture before the heavy instrumentation fully arrives.
The chorus expands into a full choir, heavy Drop-D guitars and driving double-kick drums.
FULL CHOIR
HEAVY DROP-D GUITARS
DRIVING DOUBLE-KICK DRUMS
The bridge strips the arrangement back again around chant and solo throat singing.
Then everything converges—choir, throat singing, guitars, drums and morin khuur—into the final crescendo.
The structural idea is therefore one of expansion:
VOICE → TEXTURE → WEIGHT → SCALE.
But the story behind the production adds another layer.
Frank was intentionally responding to a musical trend he was observing. The unexpected result was that other creators were responding to that same trend and often reaching for similar source material and stylistic combinations.
HARD ROCK → CINEMATIC METAL-FOLK
ROCK VOCAL WORLD → CHANT
CHANT → THROAT SINGING
SPARSE → MASSIVE
MORIN KHUUR → DROP-D GUITARS
TREND OBSERVED → EXPERIMENT ATTEMPTED
GOOD RESULT → CROWDED IDEA
The lesson wasn’t that the experiment failed. Frank considers it a strong cover.
THE EXPERIMENT SUCCEEDED MUSICALLY WITHOUT BECOMING AS DISTINCTIVE AS FRANK HOPED.
